About This Content The superbly detailed EWS Class 66 V2.0 is now available for Train Simulator. When British Rail’s freight operations were privatised in 1996, EWS brought most of BR’s freight operations, including many locomotives that were unreliable or at the end of their useful life. EWS approached General Motors to seek replacements for the ageing fleet, which saw the Class 66 enter service in 1998. The model was a replacement for the Class 59, from which it used the same body shell but was updated with new internal fittings, control systems, 3,000hp engines and power units. More than 440 models were built, and seeing their success as part of the EWS fleet, many heavy freight companies ordered their own models, including Freightliner, Direct Rail Services and EWS.The EWS Class 66 V2.0 for Train Simulator is a re-worked model of a previous version, with an updated and improved interior and re-modelled exterior. Available in EWS livery, the model features accurate brake control and centre-sprung brake lever, accurate engine and horn sounds, JGA aggregate hopper wagons and OTA timber wagons. The model also comes as Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive it on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the West Coast Main Line North route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).ScenariosThree scenarios for the West Coast Main Line North route:Hoppers for HunterstonLeaving LawTimber TreatmentMore scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Sounds are good and the horn i take it is high soft low soft because it doesnt have a really loud sound. I have AP Class 66 sound pack for this and its absolutely awesome. A nice high horn loud horn and the sounds are amazing. On this train there a 2tone horn using spacebar and"B".. There's something, I don't know what, that makes this better than the other 66's available. I like it. I think you ought to buy this. The livery is accurate, the cab feels right and the control systems are (quite) accurate.Pros:Good liveryGood model detailNice cabControl systems - centre sprung brakes etcTrain Length buttonNice (ish) scenariosCons:The horn... ouch.Could use a better (slightly less obvious) particle system - I've not seen a 66 putting out that much smoke, especially at idle. This is a complaint I have with all the 66s available.Headlight control - only off\/front\/rearTL;DR: This is a nice rendition of the class 66. If you're planning to use workshop scenarios with the 66, I've found there to be more available for the Freightliner livery version. However I actually prefer this version, and I think you should get it. But you should also get the Armstrong Powerhouse sound pack, because reasons.. However I actually prefer this version, and I think you should get it. But you should also get the Armstrong Powerhouse sound pack, because reasons.. First off, lets get the positive out of the way first. The class 66 model is very good indeed....On to the bad. The EWS 66 was launched a couple of months before this (which i purchased), then this, which is just a reskin and a couple of senarios and NOW they have lunched the powerhaul. ALL of these are full price (\u00a311.99) and are just reskins of each other with some senarios...SHAME ON YOU DTG you bunch of robbing so and so's.... you are just exploiting the general public as these should just be the class 66 with different liveries like what you did with the class 31. If Just trains and Armstrong powerhouse can do this to give the customer value for money then you can as you have done it before!Buy 1 class 66 and get some reskins and you'll be very happy.. Horn sounds are a bit patchy, but the AP sound pack improves it! Great Model especially since it has the buckeye so you can haul foreign wagons like Schnabel cars and mk3 coaches. The default engine sounds are really good as well as the cab textures. Overall 9\/10. Really lovely train! I give it a 10\/10.(Feel free to add me as a friend)
